Coach JACOB CALLOS

Head Coach

Coach Jacob, born and raised on Maui, started boxing at age 10 and became a Hawaii State Champion and Junior Olympic bronze medalist. After training with top fighters and earning a degree in radiologic technology, he began coaching in 2022.

 

Now a USA Boxing Silver-Certified Coach, Jacob blends anatomy, experience, and heart to train athletes of all levels. At Sakada Boxing Club, he creates a welcoming, team-focused space rooted in the Aloha spirit—and gives back through scholarships and youth programs.

Experience:

Boxing since the age of 10.

3 Time Hawaii State Champion

Bronze Medalist in 2008 National Junior Olympics

5 years of coaching experience

Coach Jaymes Callos

Assistant Boxing Coach

Coach Jaymes, born and raised on Maui, began his combat training through kickboxing and had his first match at just 10 years old. Since then, he’s stepped into the ring for multiple amateur boxing bouts, including the Hawaii State Boxing Championship.

 

In high school, Jaymes developed a love for music and became a skilled drummer—a passion he now fuses with boxing. By combining rhythm, timing, and technique, he helps young boxers learn complex movements in a fun, accessible way. His coaching style turns footwork into rhythm and punches into flow.

 

Now a USA Boxing Bronze-Certified Coach, Jaymes brings fresh energy, modern techniques, and a unique teaching style to every class—especially with kids. His goal? To build confident, coordinated boxers while keeping the Aloha spirit alive in every round.

Experience:

Former amateur boxing and kickboxing fighter with 3 years of coaching experience.

 

Started boxing at the age of 6.

Coach Breanna Gonzalez

Assistant Boxing Coach

Breanna, a California native, started her boxing journey right here at Sakada Boxing Club. With a background in welding and her current role as a reefer technician, she thrives in male-dominated fields—and brings that same drive into the ring.

 

Now a USA Boxing Bronze-Certified Coach and active amateur boxer, Breanna coaches both kids and women’s classes. Her attention to detail, strong work ethic, and leadership continue to inspire others—especially the next generation of female fighters.

Experience:

Current amateur boxer with one year of coaching experience, bringing fresh energy, sharp skills, and real in-ring insight to every session.

Breanna specializes in fun, high-energy training programs that help kids and teens build confidence, master skills, and develop discipline—all while having a great time.

Coach Bash Exconde

Assistant Coach

Bash is an active amateur fighter and a USA Boxing–certified Bronze-level coach. He specializes in teaching boxing fundamentals with intention, emphasizing sharp technique, intelligent defense, and a deep understanding of the sport.

Bash’s coaching philosophy focuses on building athletes from the ground up, helping them develop confidence, discipline, and technical skill. His goal is to ensure every athlete not only improves in the ring, but also carries the strength, mindset, and self-belief gained through boxing into everyday life.

Experience:

Active amateur boxer with 5 years of coaching experience.

Coach John Villareal

Assistant Boxing Coach

John has been boxing for over 10 years, with his passion for the sport beginning after watching Manny Pacquiao and growing through studying elite technicians such as Rigondeaux, Triple G, and Ricardo López. A student of all styles, he blends Eastern European and Cuban systems with traditional American boxing in his coaching.

John’s philosophy emphasizes footwork and technique, believing that true speed and power are built by learning fundamentals slowly and correctly. He has trained amateur fighters and worked with professional boxers and MMA athletes. 

Experience:

10 years of boxing experience with 4 years of coaching experience.

Coach Lonzo Tapia

Assistant Boxing Coach

Coach Alonso Tapia, better known as Coach Lonzo, was raised in Santa Ana, CA, and began coaching in late 2022 after competing as an amateur boxer. With a strong foundation in Mexican-style boxing and experience training under former world title contender Jesús Soto Karass, Lonzo brings a gritty, pressure-based coaching style rooted in toughness and discipline.

He is passionate about training athletes of all levels, focusing on strong fundamentals while building confidence, resilience, and mental toughness. His coaching emphasizes relentless pressure, stamina, grit, and heart—helping athletes push past their limits both inside and outside the ring.

Experience:

A former amateur boxer who specializes in aggressive, pressure-based fighting styles, with a strong focus on building confidence in every athlete he trains.
